often referred to as cryogenous shrinking, is commonly applied for fitting of clindrical components e.g. pins, shafts or bushes. The method is based on the physical priciple that metals will shrink by a drop of the temperature and will expand by applying heat. The same physics apply when cryogenous tensioning is used for a force fit connection of different components. Depending on the properties of the materials used and the interference of the components to be force fitted, the connection between the fitted components is determined, this limits the transmittable torque. In practise the shaft (force fit) is cooled down by bathing it in liquified nitrogene. During the cooling stage it needs to be covered entirely by nitrogene. The process of cooling down lasts until the boiling nitrogene has calmed down, which occurs when the temperature of shaft and nitrogene is equal. About 130 minutes later the diameter of the shaft has diminished to a minimum size and so it fits into the bore of the idler. The required force fit of the components is achieved by appling heat.
Cryotechnical plants are used in laboratories, reseach, medicine and biology. They serve the purpose of stocking biogeneous material. For example: stem cells, bone marrow, concentrated erythrocytes, homograft , skin tissue, blood units, cytological cultures, ovulars etc. that require specific conditions when being kept in stock. These refrigerators (Fig.2) are filled with liquified nitrogene, and a control maintains a constant temperature of the content in a range of + 40 to –180 centigrades.
In order to control the temperature level of the refrigerator, there is a constant supply of liquified nitrogene through reserve tanks. These reserve tanks get frequently refilled by us in order to guarantee an uninterrupted operation of the refrigerator, thus to maintain the probes.
In case you are interested in our nitrogene supplies, in buying reserve tanks or should you have any queries,
our Service Engineer is always at your disposal.
